PROJECT / 02
I photographed Vendetta Swimwear's debut collection ahead of the brand's eCommerce launch and first round of pre-orders. The shoot included everything from product photography for the website to promotional images and social media teasers, with each serving a different purpose while maintaining a consistent look across the collection.
The founder wanted a glossy, sun-tanned, beach-inspired aesthetic, even though we were shooting entirely in a studio. I took that direction and developed a lighting setup that recreated the feeling of strong, direct sunlight, with bright highlights and defined shadows. For the lifestyle and promotional shots, I leaned further into that dramatic lighting to give the images a more editorial feel. The eCommerce photography followed a more consistent approach, focusing on clearly showing the fit, construction, and details of each swimsuit. The founder handled wardrobe, accessories, and props, while I directed her posing and expressions throughout the shoot, adjusting angles and compositions to highlight each piece.
In post-production, I approached the images with the level of skin retouching you'd typically see in fashion or beauty photography. I cleaned up uneven texture and temporary imperfections, then used dodging and burning to bring out the natural contours of the body. I was careful to preserve personal details like tattoos rather than retouching them away. Keeping skin tones consistent across the collection was especially important, as was making sure the colors and textures of the swimwear remained accurate despite the different lighting treatments.
