The Creative Approach

Chanel N°5 has an instantly recognizable silhouette: a simple rectangular glass bottle, a restrained label, and warm golden liquid. I wanted the photography to share that confident simplicity, using bold, minimalist compositions rather than building elaborate sets around the product.

Strong directional lighting and carefully controlled reflections define the glass, draw attention to the liquid, and cast long architectural shadows. I explored variations within that approach, from clean white backgrounds and repeated graphic arrangements to warmer, gold-toned surfaces. One image intentionally breaks away: the bottle is tilted diagonally against a dark, angular foreground, with flowers layered across the background and dramatic, high-contrast lighting. It gave me room to explore a more maximalist composition without losing the bottle's identity.

I developed and styled the setups, handled the lighting and photography, and completed the retouching. Because reflective glass makes every highlight and surrounding surface matter, I paid close attention to highlight placement, transparency, and shadow shape while keeping the label and bottle recognizable. The finished series explores how one iconic product can support both restrained and expressive visual treatments.
